I just want you to know that when we do these bills of ours, we're trying to take care of the educational system.  What we want to do is build buildings, science buildings.  When we do that, it creates work for you.  It creates work for the millwright, the electrician, the carpenter, the cement, all of them so, we want you to know that we are working in Lansing, we're trying to get things moving, we only have so many dollars and everybody here is supporting these issues to get everyone back to work. 
 
Okay, we must do everything we can to ensure that the taxpayers' money is used to hire Michigan workers, there's no doubt about that.  Hiring Michigan first shows that we are standing up for the home team in these tough economic times.  Our workers built the middle class - there's no question in my mind that you did build the middle class - the Hire Michigan First plan was passed out of the committee with a strong bi-partisan support and that was done just last week, it was a bi-partisan group that did it.  Supporting our workers is not a partisan issue, and that's the problem we have with the Senate.  The Senate worries that it's a Democratic issue, it's not.  It's the working class we're trying to help.  It is the right thing to do for Michigan workers and a Michigan economy.  So we need your help and I want to thank you for taking your time out of your day to be here to help us kick this off today so thank you very much.
