LANSING – State Representative Gino H. Polidori (D-Dearborn) today praised the passage of the 10-bill "Job Provider Bill of Rights," which aims to cut the red tape for job providers and make it easier for businesses to settle disputes with the Michigan Department of Treasury.
"We want to streamline interactions between businesses and the state Treasury and make the process fairer, which is what this legislation does," Polidori said. "We want to roll out the welcome mat for companies to come to Michigan, set up shop and bring in jobs for our citizens. This legislation makes Michigan a great place to do business."
The Job Provider Bill of Rights will:
- Require auditors to inform taxpayers of refund opportunities discovered during an audit;
- Allow taxpayers to resolve mistakes on personal property taxes through an informal hearing process rather than the State Tax Commission; and
- Allow the Treasury to settle tax disputes.
