LANSING – State Representative Gino H. Polidori (D-Dearborn) today announced that Wayne County will receive nearly $3.4 million from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for a local bridge project on Ford Road, which will create jobs for our workers and get our roads back in shape after a tough winter.
"My top focus is creating jobs for our workers and jumpstarting our economy, and this project will help do that here in Dearborn," Polidori said. "Healthy roads and bridges are essential to a healthy Michigan. Our roads connect people to commerce and workers to jobs. This plan will help make Michigan stronger."
Wayne County will receive nearly $3.4 million from MDOT for bridge repairs and resurfacing on the Evergreen Road overpass at Ford Road. Work is set to begin this summer. The project is part of a $147.7 million statewide economic stimulus campaign announced today by the governor that will accelerate local construction projects. The plan will add 2,100 jobs statewide and boost both local and state economies.
"I'm fighting to change Michigan for the better and create jobs for our workers today," Polidori said. "This plan to accelerate local construction projects is just one way that we can get more of our workers back on the job. Through aggressive job-creation programs, we are building a stronger Michigan."
