Before his election to the Michigan House in 2004, Gino H. Polidori had a long and illustrious career in Dearborn government and in public safety statewide.

- Dearborn City Council member, 1996-2004.
- Appointed chief of the Dearborn Fire Department at 34, the youngest chief in the city's history, and served for 22 years, retiring in 1996.

- Appointed in 1988 to serve on the Community Right to Know Commission for hazardous materials.
